Annual Membership
The North Carolina Bar, Pub & Tavern Association (NCBPTA) has just been formed and is now looking to add your voice to important decisions made in Raleigh that GREATLY impact your business and customers. In order to be a successful group we need all independent bar and tavern owners to get involved.
In the first year we will concentrate on putting your interests and concerns on the radar screen of the General Assembly and decision-makers when they propose and discuss industry issues that can affect your business and bottom line. We will also use our close contacts at the ABC Commission to make sure that any rule and regulation changes do not adversely affect the industry. Some of recent issues that have popped-up include:
- Bill to Increase the Required Liability Insurance Coverage Amount for ABC Permits
- Bill to Clarify Beer Franchise Law
- ABC Commission Proposed Rules Change to allow more opportunities in advertising
- Server & Permitee Responsibility Issues
- Legislative Review of potential changes to current ABC system
- Bill to Allow Simulated Gaming at certain ABC Outlets
- Bill to Require ABC Permitees to be Tax Compliant
- Proposed exemption for age-restricted venues from the smoking ban
The NCBPTA will also strive to keep all industry members up-to-date on everything going on with state government and regulators. The association website (www.ncbpta.org) will be updated with breaking news and legislative information so NCBPTA members will never be surprised by new laws and regulations again. Members will also receive email updates on a regular basis from the state capitol.
As the organization grows and becomes established we will look at adding additional member benefits such as, discounted legal assistance, group insurance, low-cost credit card processing, payroll processing services, and association discounts due to increased buying power on such things as bar equipment & supplies, signage, furniture (stools, tables, chairs, etc.) and advertising.

This industry needs a strong voice in the State Capitol. For too long the interests of the small, independent-owners have been ignored when policy changes have been made that greatly affect our businesses.
